This is a three generation farm. Farming started around 1925. Merlin Emberson married Virginia (Thompson) in 1952 and took over. Almost all of the food came from the farm – meat, vegetables, berries, apples and cherries. Food was canned and frozen for the winter months. Lots was made from scratch – such as jams and jellies, like raspberry, gooseberry and blackberry. They also raised chickens, so they had their own eggs. In the 1950’s they had dairy cows, pigs and chickens.
