History: Sponsored by George and Jeanette Crooks.  The barn was built by Fred and Mabel Hahlen in 1918. Mabel recalled that the carpenters who lived on the farm while the barn was being built had big appetites ("they really could eat!") The Crooks' have lived at this location for many years, but purchased the property in 2008.

Comments:

The quilt is a fitting tribute to original owner Mabel Hahlen and her daughter Lucille – both loved quilting. Jeanette was also a quilter who passed away a short time after the quilt was placed, and this quilt was painted for her to enjoy by her quilting friends. To date in 2013, it is the only Green County Barn Quilt that is based on an entire quilt, not just a quilt block.
