SUMMARY:Lunch and Learn: From Golf Course to Wild Refuge
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Three Waters Reserve for a Lunch & Learn on the story of biodiversity recovery here on the Sugar River. \nWhat was formerly the Decatur Lake Country Club and Golf Course has been restored to native prairie\, oak savanna\, and wetlands. This 71-acre nature reserve\, now known as Three Waters Reserve\, is playing a key role in the resurgence of biodiversity along the Sugar River. \nCome hear the full story. LSRWA and SWLC invite the community to a Lunch & Learn presentation on why biodiversity matters globally\, what it means locally for flooding and water quality in the Sugar River Watershed\, and how a former golf course has become a living model of what restoration can accomplish. \nStay for a guided walk through the prairie and wetland trails. Is this piquing your curiosity? The same day as the Lunch & Learn is our FREE community Bioblitz! You are invited to join us for a day of exploration and learning about the importance of biodiversity to our ecosystems. You can learn more about the bioblitz and register at: www.lsrwa.org/bioblitz. \nLunch and Learn Hosts: Lower Sugar River Watershed Association & Southern Wisconsin Land Conservancy \nTickets: $21.95 \nWhere: Three Waters Reserve\, N3941 Golf Course Rd\, Brodhead\, 53520 \nRegister by: June 7th\, 2026

SUMMARY:Bioblitz

This is a FREE community event for people of all ages and backgrounds to attend. \nWhat is a bioblitz?! A bioblitz is a community science event where scientists\, naturalists\, and community volunteers come together to survey and record as many species as possible. You can sign up for one foray\, or stay all day! \nWe will have light refreshments and water available throughout the day\, but guests are encouraged to bring their own as well. Dress for the weather. \nNewly added\, we have Easy Terrain Botany\, Nature Journaling\, self-led nature bingo cards\, and tables with additional nature activities for anyone who would like to stay closer to the building while learning something new. \nThere will be a Lunch and Learn presentation\, From Golf Course to Wild Refuge: How Biodiversity is Coming Back to the Sugar River\, over the lunch hour\, and an optional dinner; tickets are available for purchase for one or both of the meals. \nYou can learn more and register for the BioBlitz on our website: https://www.lsrwa.org/bioblitz

SUMMARY:Three Waters Reserve - Shinrin-Yoku Series\, Through the Seasons
DESCRIPTION:As the seasons and our surroundings change\, so changes life. Through the Seasons Workshops are designed with you\, Nature\, and the Three Waters Reserve atmosphere in mind.\n\nThe Through the Seasons Workshop explores external and internal landscapes\, and how tuning into Nature offers evidence-based and measurable health and wellbeing benefits\, and creates openings for the new and unnoticed. You will come away feeling grounded\, with new skills that create balance\, connection and a deeper appreciation of your connection with Nature. Your experienced guides\, Toni Maddi and Kate Bast\, will lead you on each workshop.\nCome with an open mind and curiosity.\n\nChoose the 3x Through the Seasons ticket option and all three workshops and receive $60 off the full ticket price ($20 per workshop). A portion of all ticket sales supports conservation and maintenance at Three Waters Reserve and the Lower Sugar River Field Station. At each workshop you will receive a goodie bag\, and be entered for a gift drawing.\n\nAvailable Sessions:\n\nMay 24\, 2025\, 10:00am to 1:00pmSpring Session: “Let It Go – The Art of Finding Physical\, Emotional\, and Spiritual Space”– Just as a garden grows lushly when it has room to spread out\, so do our psyches. By decluttering and getting rid of objects\, memories\, and limiting beliefs that no longer serve us\, we can expand and grow.– We will explore journaling techniques and energy clearing indoors before we head out to experience the benefits of forest bathing.\nAugust 16\, 2025\, 10:00am-1:00pmSummer Session: “Community and Connection to Land\, Self and Others”– Are you suffering from Nature Deficit Disorder? We are less connected to the land than ever before due to increased screen time and more indoor activities. Urbanization has left us with fewer green spaces. This lack of exposure to the natural environment can result in our feeling disconnected not just from the land\, but also ourselves and others.– We will explore and connect with the different habitats at Three Waters Reserve with all our senses through forest bathing led by Kate Bast. We will ground ourselves and then create a mandala as a group using materials we find on the ground.\nOctober 18\, 2025\, 10:00am-1:00pmFall Session: “A Multi-Sensory Experience in Nature”– Feel where you and nature connect. Using sight\, hearing\, smell\, touch\, and even taste\, we will explore Three Waters Reserve.– We’ll start indoors listening to solfeggio tones (tones that are believed to have healing and spiritual properties). We’ll move onto discussing how scents can bring up powerful memories. Outdoors\, we will notice various colors as the leaves change\, touch plants\, and end with our sense of taste in a unique tea ceremony led by Kate Bast.\nFebruary 2026\, date TBDWinter Session: “Discovering New Meaning in Your Stories of Nature”– Without story\, it is impossible to define our identity\, meaning\, and purpose. Yet\, we can’t always see ourselves\, let alone meaning\, in our stories. By sharing them with others and allowing them to find amazement and even awe\, we feel seen and heard. We can better understand who we are and the world we live in by exploring them.– Each participant will share a brief story and then allow others to interpret it\, connecting you and the land in a sacred way.
