History: Sponsored by Rebecca Aurit.  The farm has been in the family for more than 125 years. The location of the farm house was originally a hotel. The quilt pattern "covered bridge" was chosen in honor of Rebecca's grandfather. In the old days in winter time, his job was to haul snow onto the nearby Clarence Covered Bridge to allow horse-drawn sleds to pass through it (since the bridge was covered, the snow would not fall on the driving surface). A replica of this bridge is on the Sugar River State Trail.

Comments:

The Aurit Farm was originally in a town called Clarence, but when the railroad depot was built, it changed where the population located – so Brodhead grew instead.
