The New Glarus Woods State Park was established as a State Park in 1934. It is comprised of over 400 acres, which are predominately forest with approximately 80 acres of prairie. Because of its hilly terrain, most of the park was never logged, leaving many trees untouched, some of which are over 250 years old. Six trails wind throughout ranging from .2 miles to 4.2 miles, totaling 7.3 miles. There are 18 drive-in campsites and 14 walk-in sites along with 6 group sites available for groups of up to 25 people.
