SUMMARY:Green County Genealogical Society Presents "Laura Ingalls Wilder"
DESCRIPTION:Generations of children and adults worldwide have been fascinated by the stories of Laura Ingalls Wilder. Her “Little House” series was the basis for a successful television series. But how did her life really evolve? What motivated her to put her experiences to paper? In this First Impressions presentation by Jessica Michna you will meet Mrs. Wilder\, older\, wiser and reflecting back on her life. She will tell you her life story and how she came to produce her literary works.  Presentation will be at the Monroe Public Library’s 2nd floor Community Room. \nOriginally from Pennsylvania\, Jessica Michna developed a love of history at an early age. She and her family visited many historic sites throughout America. Her school years would find her appearing in various productions\, in addition to costume design and construction. \nHer love of theater and history would eventually bring Jessica to found her company\, “First Impressions”. Since its founding in the year 2000\, Jessica has expanded her repertoire to include seventeen historic figures. \nIn 2016 she was awarded the Presidential Service Center’s Distinguished Service award for her riveting portrayals of First Ladies. Jessica is particularly fond of performing for senior groups and communities. The life experiences of those in her senior audiences enhances her understanding of life stories. She often reminds her audiences that everyone has a history and encourages them to record their own life stories. “History is not a litany of which generals died under which tree. It is the story and life experiences of each human life.” \nFor any questions about the meeting or presentation\, call Donna at 608-921-1537. The GCGS Research Center (located in the lower level of the Monroe Public Library is open to the public for research Tuesdays 10 am-3 pm. Other times available by appointment.
