40th Annual Bloody Lake Rendezvous

  • Black Hawk Memorial Park, 2995 County Y
  • Woodford
  • 5/1/2021 - 5/2/2021
  • Saturday 9 am - 4 pm, Sunday 9 am - 3 pm
  • 608.325.5034

Each year, a group of these living historians host an annual rendezvous event at the appropriately historic Black Hawk Memorial Park near Woodford, WI. The Yellowstone Flint and Cap club has been hosting an annual rendezvous there for over 30 years, now. They invite other historians to come and camp for the fellowship, the raw competition, for the fun of it. Some historians spend those cold winter months, setting by the fireplace, making enough crafts to use as trade goods for the supplies or items they will need in the coming year. The leather worker may make an apron the blacksmith can use in his work or the gun maker will create a beautifully, handcrafted rifle in hopes of trading it for a buffalo hide that will keep him warm. The women tat lace, sew shirts and skirts or trade recipes. Visit the pre-1840 encampment on Saturday and Sunday to experience the sights, sounds, and smells of life 200 years ago.

* Shooting competitions * Archery competitions * Hawk and Knife Throwing * Traders and Food Vendors *

Painting the Midwest (Exhibit)

The artwork of watercolor artist Michael Broshar will be on exhibit in the Monroe Arts Center's Wellington Gallery from April 23, 2021 through June 25, 2021. Broshar is a visual artist based in Dubuque, Iowa. He has always been intrigued by watercolors, but it wasn't until 2013 that he began painting watercolors in earnest. Prior to that time, his focus had been on digital art. Broshar states, "Places I have visited are my favorite subjects for paintings, as the paintings create an indelible memory of those locations. During 2020 and 21, when most of these paintings were created, we were limited in traveling due to COVID. As a result, the subjects for the exhibition at the Monroe Arts Center are primarily based on the places I have visited in Iowa and surrounding states that I could visit on a day trip." He continues, "My intention in painting is not to create a photo realistic image of a scene, but rather to create an impressionist image."

MAC Concert Series - FREE

American Idol judge Lionel Richie recently told Samantha Sharpe she had master control of her voice. THE SHARPE FAMILY SINGERS will take the MAC virtual stage May 7 through May 9, 2021. Broadway performers and producers Ron and Barbara Sharpe first met onstage in the original Broadway production of Les Miserables, where they played the romantic lead roles of Marius and Cosette. After being married onstage over 1000 times they decided to do it for real! Now years later with two grown children, a pair of identical twin boys, and three "adopted" family members (the boyfriend, the best friend, and the lovable uncle) this group has formed The Sharpe Family Singers to bring their love affair with Broadway to stages across America. In "Married to Broadway," The Sharpe Family Singers share their love of Broadway musicals by performing the big show stopping numbers that are audience favorites around the world. Their repertoire includes songs from new hit Broadway shows like Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen, blockbuster movies like The Greatest Showman, hits from Disney On Broadway and Broadway's Rock & Roll musicals as well as classic show tunes from Phantom, Cats, Evita, Guys and Dolls, West Side Story, Carousel, Fiddler, Les Miserables and many more! Concert is free of charge and can be accessed through the Monroe Arts Center website at monroeartscenter.com/performances.

Breakfast on the Farm

This year - drive thru or dine in at the Green County Fairgrounds + Bluegrass entertainment by Soggy Prairie.
The Dairy Breakfast has been a time honored tradition in Green County since 1961 when the first Diary Breakfast was held at the Juda Church. From 1961 through 1979, various schools and churches around Green County hosted the Dairy Breakfast each year in the spring as a way to kick off June Dairy Month.
In 1979, as a result of the collaboration between the Green County Ag Chest and local farm families, the Dairy Breakfast as we knew it was replaced by the Breakfast on the Farm. Each year since, a different farm family in Green County has volunteered to host breakfast at their home for more than 5,000 people.
The Green County Ag Chest spends months planning the Breakfast on the Farm. Each year dozens of volunteers, local partners, farmers, and supporters help make the breakfast a success. Each year, we use: more than 21,000 eggs, 1,300 pounds of sausage, 5,000 half-pints of milk, 126 gallons of ice cream mix, 3,500 cartons of orange juice, 200 Homemade Dairy Breakfast Coffee Cakes, 13 gallons of fresh strawberries, 110 pounds of butter, 480 pounds of cheese, and 26 pounds of coffee.
