History Makers – CHEESE!

March 28 @ 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Cheese Lovers – this is for you:  Green County’s all-time favorite food will be the focus of an evening of history (and sampling!) in Monroe on Thursday, March 28, 2024.

The Wisconsin Historical Society’s HISTORY MAKERS TOUR is “taking the show on the road”to communities all over the state with exhibits, displays, art installations, and public programs – like this one being planned here in Monroe.  With cheese being a vital part of Green County’s past, present, and future, this event will feature some local makers who have shaped that industry.

Green County Guest Panelists:  Steve Stettler (Decatur Dairy), Silvan Blum (Deppeler Cheese), Gary Grossen (Babcock Hall Dairy), and Jeff Wideman (Maple Leaf Cheese).  The National Historic Cheesemaking Center’s Virgil Leopold will serve as moderator.

Event is presented by The Wisconsin Historical Society and Culvers, with local partnership from the National Historic Cheesemaking Center, Green County Tourism, and Green County Cheese Days.

One question the panelists will be asked to answer is “what is your favorite type of cheese.”  Our predictions:  Steve – Swiss, Silvan – Limburger, Gary – Gouda, and Jeff – Cheddar.
