Exhibit at MAC – Kathi Spaeth: Beauty and Use

Artist Statement:  My interest in textiles, primarily embroidery and rug-making, began in girlhood and culminated when I became a quilter more than forty-five years ago. This interest intensified after I discovered medallion quilts. For over twenty years I’ve incorporated orphaned blocks into NOW Quilts (Nod to Other Women) which has invigorated my work by challenging me to honor patterns, colors, and fabrics anonymous women chose. I quilt by hand and my frame is a prominent feature in my home.
