Cheese + Beer + Wine

Sip and savor! With two breweries, three wineries, and more than a dozen creameries, Green County has so many options to pair up your favorites.

Our master cheesemakers, brewers and vintners are artists who pour their personal passion, attention to detail and craftsmanship into every wedge, wheel and block of cheese; every keg of beer; and every bottle of wine. From the artist’s palette to your palate, there’s an art to enjoying the authentic tastes of Green County.

The Art of Cheese

With more Wisconsin Master Cheesemakers than anywhere else in the state, your options for sampling artisan favorites are plentiful. In addition to alpine specialties with roots in Switzerland, you’ll find cheese with Hispanic influences, and varieties originating in Italy, Greece, Denmark and England. Wisconsin originals too: Brick and Colby. Award-winners like Best of Class Muenster Curds and Baby Swiss from the 2022 World Championship Cheese Contest. And did you know that the only Limburger cheese factory in the entire US is located right here in Monroe?

The Art of Beer

Green County is home to two breweries. People often want to know which one to visit, and the answer is simple: both! One is located in downtown Monroe in a building that has been home to a brewery since before Wisconsin became a state. The other is a state-of-the-art modern facility perched on a hilltop overlooking the village of New Glarus. Both offer tours. Both offer tastes. Could it possibly get any better? Well there’s also a two-barrel brewpub that serves up fresh beer in their taproom just off the downtown Square in Monroe, so the answer is YES.

The Art of Wine

It’s not just the wine, it’s also the winery experience: rolling hill vineyard views, cozy tasting rooms, big lawns and open air verandas and kitchen gardens, wood-fired pizza, and live music. Plus fun events like Yappy Hour with your Doggo. Or Adult Prom. Or Boogie Woogie Bingo. And did someone say Grape Stomp?
