Together for the Holidays - Monroe Swiss Singers and Bel Canto Singers

Monroe Arts Center is delighted and honored to present these two talented, well-known area vocal groups as part of this season's festivities. This concert promises to be a truly touching Christmas experience for all. Directed since 1985 by Deborah Krauss Smith, Monroe Swiss Singers is a mixed choir specializing in the performance and preservation of Swiss/German folklore music and customs. The group has won many first-place awards in competition singing, performs at most of the area's major events, and has accepted invitations to perform at places such as Daley Plaza in Chicago; Folklore Village in Dodgeville, Wisconsin; and at the Berne Heritage Festival in Berne, Indiana. Their performances continue to be a favorite at Monroe's Cheese Days. Under the direction of Allen Redford, Director of Choral Music at Highland College, the Bel Canto Singers are recognized by audiences for the excellent artistic interpretations of choral works. From baroque and short classical works, to spirituals, show tunes, contemporary works, and Christmas-themed pieces, their concerts are a highlight of the season.
